- Welcome everyone.
APPROVAL OF MINUTES
Bill Rappleye made a motion to approve the minutes from the February 20, 2025, meeting with a second
from Shawn Newell. The minutes were unanimously approved.
RBC Endowment Accounts- John Hallgren, Financial Advisor
RBC Endowment Update- Breakdown of the market and how the year is going for investments. We’re
predominantly stock investors but we do have cash for scholarship purposes. We’re trying to create
stability. This is based on our investment policy statement, so John follows the conservative guidelines he
was given. Some donors want to donate stock, John helps facilitate that. We take 10% of our fundraiser
funds and contribute to the endowment so it grows slowly but consistently. Denise will add ways to give
to the website. We should review our manager of funds every 3 years. Executive board meeting will review
RFP to address in board meeting in May or August and we will revisit the Investment Policy Statement.
FOUNDATION REPORT- Denise Haycock, Development OPicer
Canyon Strong Scholarships- Amazing kids. We delivered all ‘big checks’ to the winners. The gala
emcee will tell the story of all students combined. Each recipient will receive a gold Canyons coin from
Dr. Robins at the event.
Innovation Grants- Albion Middle School grant with the author was a huge success (check out social
media). Author did a podcast with us and an interview at Channel 13. Author loved the experience.
Teacher of the Year- Awards have gone out and teachers have been notified. We provided a $250 gift and
a nice note from the Board. Each gift was over $600. Ceremony is April 15th at Midvale Middle School with
actual awards a little later. Board of Education is donating RSL jerseys and an engraved crystal.
Accounting dept. prefers we not give gift cards to teachers. Katie will work on putting exception into the
policy for Teacher of the Year.
Scholarship Nights- Need board members for each high school to present for each awards night.
Pickleball Tournament- May 10th at 5 – 10 pm and raising money for the foundation. Pickleball USA can
put it together. All money raised will go to Unified Sports and Scheels is backing us. Get posters and
advertise at Pickleball USA.
Golf Tournament- Time to start selling. We already have about 15 teams signed up. September 18.
Possibly Black Clover could donate something – they did a table sponsorship for the gala and gave back
to the Foundation to use.
Unified Sports- 3 teams in the state championship at Delta center on March 26th. The final is Friday.
GALA- Greg Summerhays, Committee Chair - Just recently confirmed speakers and Jordan Madrigal choir. Hillcrest will bring robots and
students. AI specialist (ISD) is bringing the team and using 3 tables to display what’s being done.
Heads or tails fidgets ($25). 10 prize baskets for opportunity drawing ($5). Centerpieces can be
purchased at $50 each. 2 photobooths. At 256 seats currently but selling more. New businesses
attending this year! - We’re $4,000 shy of our goal of $100,000. Brian is finalizing renderings for prints to bring to Gala.
$96,000 in sponsorships so far. Ruth’s Chris Manager donated gifts cards and is interested in
joining our board. Expenses for the gala are around $20,000. - Canyons Strong video along with eBay building video. Dr. Robins will speak. Overall, it’s more of a
teaser than hard facts. New director Reid Newey will be there to interact. - Board members should be there at 5:45 pm to welcome guests and direct. Wear your badge, mix
and mingle, and reach out to scholarship winners and make them feel so special.
DISTRICT REPORT- Dr. Rick Robins, Superintendent - Almost all eBay employees are out. Dr. Robins wants to invite all eBay employees back when the
building is filled with 2,000 HS students. Currently in the design phase with MHTN. - Just wrapped up legislative session. It was challenging but now we’re working with it. Collective
bargaining bill has changed a lot along with budgeting. - Attended a robotics competition on Saturday and had a couple of CSD alum in the engineering
program at the U there interacting. They said they wanted the innovation center when they were
here. They want to be involved and come out and mentor. Hill AFB wants to come out and be
involved as well.
